Mulled Honeycrisp Sangria

This Spanish spin on traditional mulled wine incorporates spices, fresh apples, hard cider, and an apple brandy called applejack. It’s perfectly soothing on a chilly day.

  1. In a large saucepan, combine wine, sugar, cinnamon sticks and cloves. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Use a slotted spoon to remove spices; reserve cinnamon sticks for garnish. Add hard cider, applejack, oranges and chopped apples.
  3. To serve, ladle sangria and fruit into mugs. If desired, garnish each drink with an apple slice and reserved cinnamon stick.
